President Donald Trump continues to refuse to grasp the basic science surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic, even though months of the crisis have already passed. Early this Wednesday, Trump took to Twitter with a conspiracy theory suggesting that efforts to ensure safety surrounding the reopening of schools are supposedly just a front for Democrats who are trying to make him look bad. He’s obsessed with himself — he thinks that so many things are just plots to make him look bad, but they’re not. Now, he’s ignoring the very real public health issues surrounding reopening schools and pretending like it’s just a question of political pressure.
The other problem in all this is, unless you suppress the virus, no plan will survive first contact with an uncontrolled outbreak. You can say "Oh yes, we're gonna have school" and then if you're Maricopa county and you're setting hospitalization records day after day, good luck.

Early Wednesday morning, Trump tweeted:
‘In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS. The Dems think it would be bad for them politically if U.S. schools open before the November Election, but is important for the children & families. May cut off funding if not open!’

There is not a shred of evidence for Trump’s conspiracy theory that Democrats want schools closed to make him look bad. In fact, some people are concerned about issues surrounding reopening schools because people could die. Specifically, if the virus gets into a school, then it could spread and infect adults at the students’ homes and on a school campus. Trump failed to mention that many of those European countries where schools are open have also contained the virus on a societal level. Their rates of new cases are down, mostly. The rate of new cases in the U.S. is up. It’s not a question of politics! It’s a question of whether or not the president will stop for a moment and consider basic science.
Not going to stop the virus, not going to give schools additional resources or expertise, just going to apply political pressure. Awesome. This will go well. https://t.co/KQyj7bGHnX

He added:
‘I disagree with @CDCgov on their very tough & expensive guidelines for opening schools. While they want them open, they are asking schools to do very impractical things. I will be meeting with them!!!… Economy and Jobs are growing MUCH faster than anyone (except me!) expected. Job growth is biggest in history. China Virus Mortality Rate is among the LOWEST of any country. Shaping up for a good third quarter, and a great next year! NASDAQ at new record high, 401k’s way up!!!!’
He keeps talking about all of the economic growth, and he keeps failing to mention that it’s happening after historic crashes. In other words, there’s still a long way to go. The most recent jobs report put the unemployment level at 11.1 percent.
