Trump Suffers Post Barr Testimony On Camera Emotional Collapse

On Tuesday, as Trump’s attorney general testified in front of Congress about that clash between protesters and the military in Lafayette Square where peaceful protesters were tear-gassed, Trump gave another pretend COVID-19 press conference. At this point, it’s fair to say that we aren’t ever going to get another real press conference on the pandemic that has killed more than 150,000 Americans. We’re getting daily Trump rallies.

There aren’t anymore press conferences that include expert virologists like Dr. Anthony Fauci. Because he, as a doctor and scientist, refused to say that the virus would just “magically disappear” the way Trump does, he’s been sidelined, and all credibility in those press conferences were sidelined along with him.

At one point in the press conference, Trump made it clear why Fauci is no longer invited to speak. He can’t stand that people like Fauci more than him.

‘He’s got this high approval rating…Why don’t I have a high approval rating?…Nobody likes me. It could only be my personality. I don’t know.’

Instead of expert opinions and a discussion of the latest scientific discoveries to combat the virus, we now have information coming only from Trump, who has at least capitulated on points like the importance of wearing masks and social distancing. Most of the information he shares, however, is more related to his administration’s awesome response to a virus that has infected more than four million Americans.

Trump also spent a great deal of time discussing the economy, his jobs numbers, the “accomplishments” he’s made, and how the economic recovery, which has not yet begun because the virus is not over, has been “tremendous” and like “nothing anybody has ever seen before.” Apparently, he wasn’t around for Obama’s second term, when a real economic recovery happened, or he just doesn’t like to think about that.
