The Trump family has remained relatively mum about their president brother Donald Trump. Both his elder and younger brothers have died, leaving only him and his two sisters. One of those sisters, former Juge Maryanne Trump Barry, was caught on tape. Her words were caustic.
She was candid in conversations with her niece Mary Trump Ph.D. Their niece legally recorded her aunt talking about POTUS. The Recording Law reported that under New York state law, it is legal to tape a conversation with the consent of one party, which in this case was Mary Trump.
Mary Trump wrote the recently released and publisher’s highest-grossing book Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created The World’s Most Dangerous Man.
When Barry was sitting as a federal judge, she heard Donald Trump on Fox News talking about her The Washington Post reported. The commander-in-chief said:
‘[M]aybe I’ll have to put her at the border.’
For the first time, Donald Trump’s eldest sister and former federal appellate judge Maryanne Trump Barry was caught on tape talking candidly about him.
She joined the office of the United States Attorney located in New Jersey. She was only one of two women in the 62-attorney office from 1974 through 1983. She had this to say about her wayward brother:
‘All he wants to do is appeal to his base. He has no principles. None. None. And his base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this.’
Barry, 83, was stunned by her nine-years-younger brother in the office of president:
‘His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God. I’m talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy shit…what they’re doing with kids at the border. [Trump] hasn’t read my immigration opinions.’
His Ph.D. trained niece asked her aunt:
‘What has he read?’
Trump’s eldest sister responded:
‘No. He doesn’t read.’
Later Barry said:
‘It’s the phoniness of it all. It’s the phoniness and this cruelty. Donald is cruel.’
The White House issued a statement Saturday. His lack of denial was blinding:
‘Every day it’s something else, who cares. I miss my brother, and I’ll continue to work hard for the American people. Not everyone agrees, but the results are obvious. Our country will soon be stronger than ever before!’
Trump’s older sister said:
‘He was a brat. I did his homework for him [and] I drove him around New York City to try to get him into college. He went to Fordham for one year [two years] and then he got into University of Pennsylvania because he had somebody take the exams.’
His niece exclaimed:
‘No way! He had somebody take his entrance exams?’
Barry responded:
‘SATs or whatever. . . . That’s what I believe. I even remember the name…Joe Shapiro.’
The Washington Post interviewed Trump’s niece last month and asked for her source. She chose not to give up her Aunt Maryanne at that time:
‘I prefer not to say who it is. It’s somebody who would have absolutely no reason to make it up.’
Spokesperson for Mary Trump, Chris Bastardi, said:
‘She hoped to prove this, as is often done, by recording words contrary to their sworn statements. She never expected to learn much of what she heard.’
Barry addressed the graduating class of Fairfield University in Connecticut in 2011:
‘Success can be as simple as the warm feeling you get when you smile at a stranger, someone you know must be lonely, and having that stranger return your smile.’
POTUS has been proud of his sister at times. In 2016, he said:
‘We do have different views a little bit. She’s a very, very highly respected judge.’
Only once, Barry asked for her brother’s help obtaining a federal judgeship from President Ronald Reagan. Donald Trump’s attorney Roy Cohn was “like kissing buddies” with Reagan:
‘He had Roy Cohn call Reagan about needing to appoint a woman as a federal judge in New Jersey. Because Reagan’s running for reelection, and he was desperate for the female vote…I had the nomination.’
Barry said this of her middle brother:
‘[He] once tried to take credit for me. [He said] Where would you be without me?’
Since then, she has climbed in stature on her own. Finally, Barry told him:
‘You say that one more time and I will level you. the only favor I ever asked for in my whole life. [I earned it] on my own merit. Donald is out for Donald, period.’
Then, Mary Trump asked her aunt what Donald Trump had accomplished on his own without any help. Barry replied:
‘I don’t know. Well he has five [business] bankruptcies…You can’t trust him.’
POTUS’ brother Robert died on August 15, 2020. He supported POTUS “one-thousand percent” in spite of the president merciless tormenting him. Robert was 10 years younger than Donald.
After their father died, the Donald talked more about himself during the funeral:
‘Donald was the only one who didn’t speak about Dad. I don’t want any of my siblings to speak at my funeral. And that’s all about Donald and what he did at Dad’s funeral. I don’t know. It was all about him.’
