First Lady Melania Trump, who will soon be exiting the halls of government along with her husband, is preparing to potentially write a book about her time in the White House, according to a new report from Page Six. A so-called “insider” told the publication that “Melania is in meetings to write her White House memoir, and it would be her money — a chance for her to earn on her own.” This source also said that they’d been “told” that Donald himself is “encouraging” Melania to write the book, adding that Melania is “not done, or going as quietly as you might expect.”
Melania has tended to shy away from the public spotlight during her time as First Lady. At one point, she announced an anti-bullying initiative called “Be Best,” but that initiative essentially petered out — nothing substantively systematic in scope emerged from the program. Melania’s prospective book would emerge after her former close friend, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, shared her own book about her experiences with the soon-to-be former First Lady. Wolkoff also shared recordings of Melania’s comments, including one moment when she angrily asked “who gives a fuck about the Christmas stuff and decorations?”
At another moment, Melania complained about critics:
‘They say I’m complicit. I’m the same like him, I support him. I don’t say enough. I don’t do enough where I am.’
The Trump administration has been rocked by a steady stream of tell-all books throughout its four years in power. Longtime journalist Bob Woodward has written a couple of books about the inner workings of the Trump administration, and former FBI Director James Comey, former top FBI official Andrew McCabe, and others have also written their own individual books. Trump has repeatedly publicly complained about these books — although in the case of Woodward’s second book, Donald himself actually sat for repeated interviews. In one of these conversations, Trump admitted that he was intentionally downplaying the threat of COVID-19 to the American public. The virus has gone on to wreak havoc in the country and across the globe.
