In an embarrassing display of their commitment to Donald Trump’s ego, the Trump administration — including White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany — is continuing to push the lie that there’s any remotely reasonable pathway whatsoever by which Trump could stay in office. Asked if Trump has “acknowledged” Biden’s status as president-elect and/ or has plans to invite Biden to the White House — a courtesy that then-President Barack Obama freely extended to then-President-elect Trump in 2016 — McEnany said that “the president is still involved in ongoing litigation related to the election” and characterized the Monday electoral college vote as “one step in the Constitutional process.” Characterizing the electoral college vote as insignificant in any respect is laughable.

Check out McEnany’s comments below:

At another moment of the same Tuesday press conference, after a reporter asked if the president opposes consideration by the Senate of Biden’s nominees prior to Biden’s imminent inauguration, McEnany characterized the question as a “hypothetical” and insisted that Trump “has taken all statutory requirements necessary to either ensure a smooth transition or a continuation of power.” McEnany seems to be referring to the acknowledgement from the federal General Services Administration of Biden’s win, which allowed Biden’s presidential transition team to access federal resources. McEnany’s underlying implication that there’s any remotely reasonable possibility of a second Trump term is totally false.

Check out some footage below:

As McEnany left the room after presenting details of an investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes, CNN’s Jim Acosta asked the pointed question: “Isn’t it hypocritical for you to accuse others of disinformation when you spread it every day?” McEnany did not respond. Check out the moment below:

Conservative and liberal judges from around the country have rejected the Trump team’s claims regarding the election over and over and over, with dozens of post-election court losses for Trump and his allies. Officials in every single state have certified their respective states’ election results, and federal officials, like outgoing U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr, have confirmed that there’s no legitimate evidence of outcome-altering election fraud. When is the nonsense from the Trump team going to end? When are they going to let go of their ignorant sham?
