What is the big lie? We hear this term echoing around the hallowed halls of our Capitol Building this Wednesday after Donald Trump’s failed coup. Democrats have stood on the House floor arguing for POTUS to be excised from the White House where he apparently put down roots.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi said lawmakers knew President Donald Trump incited the violent mob that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 while votes were being counted in the election that he lost – and that he must go, The USA Today newspaper reported:
‘We know that we experienced the insurrection that violated the sanctity of the people’s Capitol and attempted to overturn the duly recorded will of the American people.’
‘The president much be impeached and, I believe, the president must be convicted by the Senate, a constitutional remedy that will ensure that the republic will be safe from this man who is so resolutely determined to tear down the things that we hold so dear.;
Then, she said:
‘Those insurrectionists were not patriots. They were not part of a political base to be catered to and managed. They were domestic terrorists. And justice must prevail.’
Pelosi rarely speaks for any length of time on the floor. Yet, Wednesday she stood quoting the 16th President Abraham Lincoln (R-IL) and President John F. Kennedy. She quoted from Saint Paul in the Bible to make her case against the greatest American threat that is Donald Trump.
Pelosi built her case, noting that Trump lied repeatedly about the outcome of the election and sought to influence state officials “to repeal reality.”
‘Then came that day of fire we all experienced.’
Reporter Aaron Rupar tweeted:
‘Pelosi: “The President of the United States incited this insurrection, this armed rebellion, against our common country. He must go. He is a clear and present danger to the nation that we all love.”‘
