Donald Trump’s big lie about the 2020 presidential election, which he insists was stolen from him in a coup led by Democrats, Republicans, vote tabulating machines, election officials, Sharpie pens, and Hugo Chavez, has inspired a number of bills in red states that went blue, or got close. The bills are designed to make it more difficult to vote since high turnout like the one in November 2020 generally favors Democrats, and they target black communities.
Disappointed @MLB will move the All-Star Game, but proud of their stance on voting rights. GA GOP traded economic opportunity for suppression. On behalf of PoC targeted by #SB202 to lose votes + now wages, I urge events & productions to come & speak out or stay & fight. #gapol

Stacey Abrams, a voting rights advocate who served in the Georgia House of Representatives and ran for governor against Brian Kemp, discussed the Friday decision by the Major League Baseball organization to pull the MLB All-Star Game from Atlanta, citing the state’s new voting laws, which have already been passed, as the reason for their decision to do so. The organizations follows Coca-Cola and Delta Airlines, both of whom have spoken out against the laws, but has been the first major organization to pull their business from the state.
Abrams tweeted:

Consumer protest is an effective tool, and one that is likely to hurt Georgia economically. When voters begin to feel the effects of this, no amount of cheating will help the politicians who signed them into law.
Twitter was quick to show their support for Abrams and their approval of the MLB’s decision. Read some of their comments below:
