The vice president turned President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama proved a great team. On Memorial Day, President Biden laid the wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier and powerfully, passionately reminded us of why the fallen died. They were fighting for the very soul of our Democracy against enemies both here and abroad from the beginning of our nation until today. President Obama also reminded us on this somber day of our country’s deep emotional loss.
Our 44th president pointed to “the men and women who sacrificed everything:”
‘This Memorial Day, let’s remember the men and women who sacrificed everything for the people they served with and the country they loved. We owe them all an enormous debt of gratitude.’
On his home page, President Obama spoke about “real change–big change” and the “obligations and opportunities” that are ours “with the title of Citizen:”
‘Real change—big change—takes many years and requires each generation to embrace the obligations and opportunities that come with the title of Citizen.
‘True democracy is a project that’s much bigger than any one of us. It’s bigger than any one person, any one president, and any one government. It’s a job for all of us.’
