This Memorial Day, The Lincoln Project brought to us one of their best videos yet. It captures the essence of what this day is all about. Yes, this brief video reminds us of the two and one-half centuries of Americans who came before us, and it warms us.
These were the men and women who walked our great Capitol’s halls, and the cemeteries where white reminders mark each life sacrificed for us — extending to the horizon.
This great experiment of these United States must be protected. We stand on the shoulders of those who fought and died for an idea bigger and better than themselves.
We are also called upon to stand, to serve, and to sacrifice just as they did. Every race and every faith must protect their comrades, their families, and their nation.
It is a time to walk in these bold angels’ shoes. These oh, so very young men and women led the way to the America we must be. We can follow.
