Well, well if it is not Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) yapping at the heels of the commanding Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. He attacked the US military obliquely referring to its members as “emasculate” And if anyone should be an expert on emasculation, it would be the repugnant Cruz.
What the least-liked senator in Washington, DC is not an expert on is the military. It is nearly impossible to imagine him as a soldier, let alone a Marine. But of course, that did not stop Cruz. He continued with his annoying high-pitched bark, praising the Russian military.
He was referring to a TikTok video showing the contrast between Russia’s and America’s recruitment advertisements.
A man with all of the imposing gravitas of a timeless 65-foot tall guard in front of Egypt’s The Great Temple of Abu Simbel, Austin responded to Cruz’s complaint:
‘It (The US military) is not too soft. It will never be too soft. You know, I think our adversaries, would like to capitalize on talking points like that, you know, the Chinese, the Russians. I welcome them to do that, because what this department, what Lloyd Austin is focused on is the defense of our nation.’
The four-star general, who served as commander of the US Central Command for three years, pointed out he could care less about what other countries think:
‘I will not lose one minute of sleep about what the Chinese leadership is saying, or what Vladimir Putin is saying. What I will focus on, and what I am focused on, is the defense of this nation.’
Cruz attacked a series of military ads, entitled The Calling, saying that they pointed at the wrong aspects of potential members. The senator would have preferred they focused on physical strength versus diversity. General Austin responded:
‘I think we’re doing a great job in terms of recruiting the right kinds of people, providing access to people from every corner, every walk of life in this country. As long as you’re fit and you can qualify, there’s a place for you on this team.’
The CNN interview was primarily about honoring servicemembers and delving into the general’s personal experience in the military. The four-star general added:
‘Some of the things I’ve seen in terms of young people putting themselves in harm’s way, to protect their squad, or protect their buddy, or to go back into danger to retrieve their buddy willingly, you know, without even thinking about it, it’s just amazing, just amazing to watch what they’ll do for each other.’
Cruz compared the Russian military recruitment ads to America’s ads, obliquely calling our military “pansies:”
‘We have the greatest military on earth, but Dem politicians & woke media are trying to turn them into pansies.’
In the CNN interview, Austin said the US military was “the best military in the world today,” because as important as technology was, the people were more important:
‘I think we’re doing a great job in terms of recruiting the right kinds of people, providing access to people from every corner, every walk of life in this country. As long as you’re fit and you can qualify, there’s a place for you on this team.’
Austin said he believed the US’s diverse military force “must be a part of who we are:”
‘We represent the United States of America. We ought to look like America and not only in the ranks. But ur leadership should look like America.’
Austin continued in the interview:
‘I’ve had a front-row seat … at the greatest stage in our history in terms of, you know, being able to watch our troops in action, and watch the things that they will do for each other, the sacrifices they make for this country and for each other.’
‘And I will tell you, despite the fact that we can make great movies and write a lot of books, you can’t adequately describe the things that I’ve seen over this 20-year period, what these young people will do for each other, what they’ll do for their country is absolutely amazing.’
