His Kansas farmboy/top graduate of West Point demeanor makes Mike Pompeo appear wholesome and capable. He comes across as a person of substance, but beneath that charade, lurks a far more suspicious character, one with greed clinging to his every footstep.
Even though he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from the Wichita, Kansas area, he did not come to the state until he moved his aerospace business into the satellite range of the mega-aerospace company Boeing. The corporation has pulled its substantial roots out of the Kansas soil and transplanted itself on the West Coast, The New Yorker reported.
Interesting is it not, the source of nearly 20 percent of Pompeo’s business’s venture capital money came from the ultra-conservative Koch Brothers? Yet, the former representative did not support Donald Trump at first. He came to Washington, D.C. to take the job of CIA Director at that president’s behest and became one of the pillars of the Trump cheerleading team. Then, Pompeo did a one-eighty and became 45’s Secretary of State. All of a sudden, he was oh, so Trumpian.
Pompeo went to where all good Trumpsters go, to be a Fox News contributor. Sunday, he appeared on Fox News Sunday hosted by Chris Wallace who asked about the “origins of the coronavirus:”
‘You also criticized President [Joe] Biden for not pushing hard enough on China to look for the origins of the coronavirus. But I want to again go back to your administration and the record there.’
Wallace did not let up:
‘President Trump and his team, including you, had almost a year after the COVID-19 first came on the scene to really press Beijing on what the origins were when the evidence was much fresher… ‘
‘What did President Trump and his administration, including the secretary of state, do to press China harder to get the evidence on where the COVID-19 virus came from because we still don’t know?’
But Pompeo refused to answer the question:
‘Chris, the predicate of your question is all wrong. We have a really good idea what happened here. There is an enormous amount of evidence that there was a leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. There’s a pile of evidence 100 feet high. I have high confidence that that’s the case.’
Pompeo argued:
‘We pressed the Chinese communist party really hard. We withdrew from the WHO, which had become politicized. This administration chose to get back into that. I don’t know what tools they think they’re going to use. But we were serious in this endeavor. We made it clear that there would be real consequences for the Chinese Communist Party.’
After all, in the administration he joined, 600,170 Americans died, according to Google Statistics. Worse, health experts said that no more than 100,000 of them would have died had the pandemic been handled as President Joe Biden has controlled it. Then, the former Secretary of State broadened his lie:
‘We got very close to being able to make a laydown case for what actually happened and how this virus came to kill millions of people around the world and destroy billions of dollars in wealth. We know enough now. The coverup continues and it’s time for accountability.’
Wallace asked the most powerful question of his interview:
‘Do you that the virus came from a lab leak from the Wuhan Institute?’
Pompeo fired back with a firm chameleon response:
‘I do.’
