Trump Tried To Have DOJ Investigate SNL For Being Mean To Him

The guy who could dish it out with a fifth grader’s insults sure cannot take it. After a confidence-laden President Barack Obama told a couple of jokes at 45’s expense, we quickly learned that the ex-president had no, as in zero sense of humor. Malignant narcissists are so like that. They just take everything so literally. The problem this time was that Trump ran and jumped into his Attorney General’s arms crying “They’re being mean to me!”

Trump once hosted Saturday Night Live (SNL) and apparently could read his lines.

But talk about carrying a grudge and putting revenge icing all over it. Those (thanks Obama) jokes were what motivated the former president to run for the presidency and not only win but tear everything President Obama had accomplished into teeny tiny little pieces. And stomp on them. Mission attempted.

NBC’s long-running Saturday Night Live show had apparently offended the ex-president one time too many. Of course, Trump watched it every week anyway. What did he expect from a liberal show when he bent over and presented them with that nice big bull’s eye?

In a tweet before Twitter kicked him off of its playground for not playing nice and attempting a coup, Trump tweeted:

‘It’s truly incredible that shows like Saturday Night Live, not funny/no talent, can spend all of their time knocking the same person (me), over & over, without so much of a mention of ‘the other side. Like an advertisement without consequences. Same with Late Night Shows. Should Federal Election Commission and/or FCC look into this?’

SNL is clearly satire. That is free and protected speech. But Trump wanted the whole cast of humorists rounded up and thrown into a dungeon with his former opponent Secretary Hillary Clinton.

As the leader of the free world with a dictator’s heart, Trump wanted the U.S. government to crush the television show and all of his personal enemies. He wanted to know what the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) could do about zeroing in on  SNL, Jimmy Kimmel, and the other late-night comedians.

A source told The Daily Beast:

‘It was more annoying than alarming, to be honest with you.’

Trump was half-mad with rage when President Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential race. The House Oversight Committee released emails between Trump and his Department of Justice (DOJ) that showed how Trump tried to use the DOJ as his own personal law firm. All he wanted was “demands to investigate a number of wild conspiracy theories” and try to overthrow Biden.

These conspiracies included:

  • ‘ItalyGate [a] military satellite to hack voting machines and swing the election for Biden.
  •  [The] “audit” of Dominion voting machines in Antrim County, Michigan, by the security firm Allied Security Operations Group.
  • [Using the] “Equal-Time” rules (which did not apply) to NBC sketch comedy.’

The source continued, noting Trump kept asking:

‘Can something else be done about it?’

The government agencies would reply with:

‘some version of “I’ll look into it.” (This person says that to this day, they have not, in fact, “looked into it.”)’

The “equal time” rule refers to a specific FCC rule that wouldn’t apply to SNL. Paul Matzko, a scholar on technology policy at the Cato Institute said:

‘Equal time meant that if a radio or TV station offered time to one political candidate they had to offer comparable time on the same terms to an opposing candidate [expanded to] not only to candidates themselves and their campaigns directly but any kind of allied group.’

So Trump took his show on the road where he threatened SNL’s parent company in 2018 causing a brief panic in Comcast’s stock:

‘American Cable Association has big problems with Comcast. They say that Comcast routinely violates Antitrust Laws.’

During a 2020 South Carolina rally, Trump threatened:

‘[To] do everything possible to destroy [Comcast’s] image because they are terrible.’

But as always, humor won out.
