Alexander Vindman spent his adult life in service to his country as a member of the military charged with protecting the United States and its leaders. In January of 2020, Mr. Vindman risked his own safety to protect his country in another capacity, testifying before Congress about the former president’s attempts to extort a foreign country. That same president led an attack the following January, an attack against his own country. the one Vindman swore to protect with his own life.

The two men – the twice-impeached ex-president who lost the popular vote twice and the retired United States Army lieutenant colonel who worked his way through the ranks after earning his citizenship – could not be more different. Vindman certainly never served as commander in chief, but he demonstrated his willingness to serve and protect his country every day of his career. Donald Trump never served in the military, and did nothing but protect himself while in the White House, even inciting an insurrection to protect his own pride.
Today, a committee is exploring Trump’s incitement of his supporters to overthrow the government to install himself in office for a second term, several criminal investigations into his businesses and his attempts to coerce public officials to collude with him in challenging the presidential election results and giving him the presidency illegally, and the public knows him as a cheater, a criminal, and a loser.
Vindman has a right to hope Trump is held accountable for his crimes, as does every American. Read some of those American’s comments below:
