Donald Trump is irate because the January 6 committee wants his elder daughter Ivanka, age 40, to testify next.
‘It’s a Very, very unfair situation for my children.’
The Select Committee also requested:
‘[L]ogs of phone calls and text messages between the former president’s son 38-year-old son Eric Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle, another adviser and the fiancée to another son, Donald Trump Jr (42.)’
As usual, Trump tried to turn reality into gold by saying that the Select Committee was going “after children” to distract from President Joe Biden’s problems:
‘It’s a disgrace, what’s going on. They’re using these things to try and get people’s minds off how incompetently our country is being run. And they don’t care. They’ll go after children.’
Ivanka Trump’s spokesperson said that she had “just learned” about the Select Committee’s ask and said:
‘As the Committee already knows, Ivanka did not speak at the January 6 rally. As she publicly stated that day at 3:15pm, ‘any security breach or disrespect to our law enforcement is unacceptable. The violence must stop immediately. Please be peaceful.’
Trump Biographer Timothy L. O’Brien added:
‘Every time there is an investigation of Trump, the media becomes invested in [it] being a possible death knell. Donald Trump has nine lives not because he’s a master dodger, but because it’s hard to prove fraud. It’s worth stepping back and looking at the realities of the legal proceedings and at the bars the prosecutors have to overcome to make a case.’
The House Committee wrote in the letter that it wanted to hear about any conversations she heard, had, or witnessed about:
‘[T]he president’s plan to obstruct or impede the counting of electoral votes.’
