Donald Trump blamed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for the GOP getting “absolutely creamed” in the states’ redistricting. There has been a significant and widening divide between the two men. Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) could be competing with Trump for the 2024 presidential run, and the former president fears he does not have McConnell’s backing.
The ex-president claimed that the Kentucky senator has been hurting the Republican Party, according to The Newsweek Magazine. Trump released a weekend statement and claimed that instead of doing well in New York as expected, Republicans lost four seats. Again he blamed McConnell:
‘We were expecting to do well in New York and now, we’ll lose 4 seats and the Old Broken-Down Crow, Mitch McConnell, sits back and does nothing to help the Party.’
As usual, the ex-president claimed the Democrats were doing what he has been doing, “cheating on elections:”
‘The only thing the Democrats are good at is cheating on elections, and the proof is out for everybody to see but hold on you haven’t seen anything yet!’
The GOP sued the Democrats over the “new congressional and legislative maps.” In another blow, this time in North Carolina, the State Supreme Court ruled that the Republicans’ legislative maps were “unconstitutional.”
Liz Harrington released Trump’s message via Twitter:
‘NEW! President Donald J. Trump: “Republicans are getting absolutely creamed with the phony redistricting going on all over the Country. Even the Fake New York Times is having a hard time believing how ridiculous things have gotten. We were expecting to do well in New York…’
The ex-president has increased his McConnell attacks. He blamed the minority leader for standing behind the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill. He also criticized the minority leader for working across the aisle to raise the federal debt limit:
‘The Dems would have folded completely if Mitch properly played his hand,” Trump said in a statement at the time. “He has all the cards to win, but not the ‘guts’ to play them. Instead, he gives our Country away, just like he did with the two Senate seats in Georgia, and the Presidency itself. The Old Crow is a disaster!’
It appeared that the rift between the two men will only widen.
