Trump Has Childish Hissy-Fit After Poll Shows GOP Abandoning Him

There was a time when Donald Trump had full control of the Republican Party. To defy him was to be called out on social media and have voters turned against you so thoroughly that death threats often followed. To take a stand against any of his ridiculous, often cruel policies meant losing donors and a job. What Trump wanted, Trump got, or everyone else would suffer.

Those days are finally fading, and the country will be far, far better off for it. Trump, however, is furious.

On Tuesday, The New York Times released a poll showing that, instead of the commanding majority in the eighty or ninety percent range, just less than half of all Republican voters say they still intend to vote for Trump should he decide to run in 2024, a move that’s been pending for some time. 51 percent say they’ll vote for another candidate, even if Trump becomes the primary winner for the party.

‘As Donald J. Trump weighs whether to open an unusually early White House campaign, a New York Times/Siena College poll shows that his post-presidential quest to consolidate his support within the Republican Party has instead left him weakened, with nearly half the party’s primary voters seeking someone different for president in 2024 and a significant number vowing to abandon him if he wins the nomination.’

Trump, as he is prone to do, was unhappy and expressed his outrage in a statement, still presented as being on the letterhead of the “45th President of the White House” when that president has been out of office (thank goodness) since January 2021. He performed all of his old hits about the “failing” New York Times and how they’re the “enemy of the people.”

‘The failing New York Times is down 40% year-to-date because they are Fake News. Their reporters are dishonest, and their front page has become a work of total fiction, not news. They hate our Country, and they hate reporting the truth, which is why America is not respected and our Nation has never been weaker. Instead, they obsess over January 6, just like they did over Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, the Mueller Witch Hunt, and Russia, Russia, Russia. The New York Times will continue to decline because people no longer believe their reporting is even close to being true. Fake polls, phony stories, and made up quotes—they are a disgrace to journalism and have set it back many many years. THE NEW YORK TIMES IS TRULY THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!’

One of Trump’s most repeated criticisms of the media lately, including The Times, is their “obsession” with January 6, 2021, the attack on the U.S. Capitol Building incited and led by Donald Trump. Trump is right to be concerned with the focus on the hearings covering that attack, as it appears to be having a significant effect on American’s view of him.

‘Mr. Trump’s conduct on Jan. 6, 2021, appears to have contributed to the decline in his standing, including among a small but important segment of Republicans who could form the base of his opposition in a potential primary contest. While 75 percent of primary voters said Mr. Trump was “just exercising his right to contest the election,” nearly one in five said he “went so far that he threatened American democracy.”’
