Protesters turned out in New York City on Saturday evening near the site of a gala put on by the New York Young Republican Club featuring speakers including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Donald Trump Jr. Jack Posobiec, a far-right activist, was also a featured speaker.

The event was pricey, with VIP access for those who weren’t members of the apparently long-running club reaching $849. Featured guests included Steve Bannon, Rudy Giuliani, and James O’Keefe of the far-right activism group known as Project Veritas, and Giuliani’s son Andrew, who made a failed bid for the Republican nomination for governor in New York this year, was listed as one of the leaders of the event. “Thank you New York Republican Club for honoring me this evening and giving me the privilege of speaking with hundreds of patriots in New York City!” Greene said afterwards on Truth Social alongside a clip of her receiving some kind of honor. She gave a speech that was apparently scheduled to begin just before 11 p.m. Some of those who showed up to participate in protests sounded eager to share their antagonism at what those attending represented. “You’re a fuckin’ Nazi pig!” one guy said on video.

Watch it below:

Signage held by those demonstrating specifically targeted Bannon, who remains involved in far-right politics no matter the repeated losses seen for his side, including around the country in this year’s midterm elections. Election-denying or questioning candidates lost in races for governor or Senate in Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Georgia (the last of which was in primaries this year). Greene also recently saw a noticeably lackluster response to her participation in a Christmas parade in a town in her Georgia Congressional district. Walking along what seemed like a central point of the parade route, hardly anybody seemed to care. Footage that circulated revealed barely anybody actually reacting to Greene. Other far-right figures who’ve also recently faced antagonism from the public include Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, who faced jeers from the crowd at a New York baseball game and fury from some of those watching a later victory parade for the Houston Astros — although one of those expressing frustrations was later charged after throwing at least one can at the Senator.
