Trump’s Lawyers ‘Preparing’ For Donald To Be Charged In Election Meddling Case

As summarized in a new report from The Daily Beast, lawyers to former President Donald Trump — who is, of course, running to reclaim that position — are “preparing” for criminal charges in the continuing investigation in Georgia into attempts there to undercut their results from the last presidential election.

In short, these circumstances don’t mean that charges have been confirmed as on the way — at least as best can be told, but developments have strongly suggested that Donald will be facing another criminal case there. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who leads the probe, has been seeking to lock down the security situation ahead of an early August period when signs point to potentially major activity. She even asked local authorities to not schedule in-person court proceedings. Holding such proceedings could complicate the security environment in a scenario where Trump’s been charged and his supporters are gathering. Willis even asked for assistance in security preparations from the FBI, and many of her staff members are evidently preparing for a period of working remotely in that autumn time frame.

“In Georgia, the defense lawyers Drew Findling, Melissa Goldberg, and Jennifer L. Little are preparing for the Fulton County District Attorney to indict Trump in July or August,” The Daily Beast said.

The publication had those details in a broader report about intense animosity within Trump’s legal team, including evident outrage on the inside with Donald’s ally Boris Epshteyn, who’s evidently been trying to position himself as a sort of chief of staff to the former White House occupant in terms of controlling access to Trump and his schedule. The publication also reported there has been frustration with the course of the New York trial that Trump recently faced on civil claims of sexual misconduct. Though Trump’s legal team did participate in cross-examination, it presented no case of its own once the plaintiffs closed, meaning witness testimony was over. Trump was found liable, and the jury imposed financial penalties totaling some $5 million.
