Still further criminal charges could emerge in connection to the criminal conspiracy allegations that former President Donald Trump and 18 allies of his are facing in Georgia. In Fulton County, which is in the Atlanta area and is where the indictment was issued, the local Sheriff’s Office stated they are investigating potential threats against grand jurors who participated in issuing the case against Trump. As is routine, the grand jury’s approval was required before the indictment was finalized, and jurors’ personal information has begun circulating.

“The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is aware that personal information of members of the Fulton County Grand Jury is being shared on various platforms,” the office said in a press release. “As the lead agency, our investigators are working closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to track down the origin of threats in Fulton County and other jurisdictions. We take this matter very seriously and are coordinating with our law enforcement partners to respond quickly to any credible threat and to ensure the safety of those individuals who carried out their civic duty.”

Even photos of some of those who joined the grand jury in Georgia began to circulate online. Georgia regularly makes available the names of grand jury participants, which is not standard practice either at the federal level or in many other states. The grand jury that provided its necessary approval for the charges against Trump and a dozen and a half of his allies was different from the special purpose grand jury that earlier participated in Willis’s investigation, hearing evidence.

That earlier jury issued a final report containing some recommendations for action as Willis continued her investigation, which has now culminated in criminal charges for figures including Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, and Mark Meadows. Meadows, the chief of staff in the Trump White House when Donald left office, appears to have been charged in connection to his role on Trump’s infamous phone conversation after the 2020 race with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
