In a recent speaking engagement (an interview before a live audience) connected to the release of her new book that was spotlighted by Republican Accountability on X (formerly called Twitter), former GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming condemned Donald Trump for previously sitting down with white supremacist Nick Fuentes.

Trump attempted to distance himself from Fuentes, but the fact of the matter is that Trump had dinner with him alongside the musical artist Ye, better known by his former name Kanye West. The singer/producer has also espoused far-right conspiracy theories, and a Trump statement previously reported by Axios did have the ex-president indicating he was evidently supportive of that get-together.

Fuentes, meanwhile, leads (among other things) a now regular event known as the America First Political Action Conference, an iteration of which hosted as a speaker Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)… who also eventually tried to distance herself. Ideological followers of Fuentes have been among the many defendants from January 6. And of course — looping back to Trump, the ex-president has repeatedly expressed support for the cause of such defendants, even talking up the possibility of issuing pardons if he’s re-elected.

“Donald Trump dines with Nick Fuentes, who is a Holocaust denier, who is somebody who on a daily basis calls for the elimination of Israel and much worse,” Cheney said. “And so I think that, making sure people understand that Donald Trump’s allies, Donald Trump himself, are no friends of Israel or are no friends of the Jewish people — that that can’t be a reason why people decide that they’re going to go that way.” She was discussing outreach to independents before the next presidential election.

Cheney has been repeatedly speaking out against Trump as the 2024 elections approach, in which indications suggest Trump will again be on the ballot next November. Polling covering a potential rematch between the ex-president and current incumbent Joe Biden moves back and forth between which contender is shown in the lead.
