Trump Screams About A Fake Invasion Of The U.S. In New Year’s Message

Donald Trump’s holiday messages are so often bananas.

He has now begun promoting the baseless claim that Democrats are orchestrating what he generally terms an invasion of the U.S. by undocumented immigrants in order to secure new blocs of voters for upcoming elections, and he repeated this nonsense in an early message for New Year’s.

Trump wrote the following on Truth Social, his alternative social media site that emerged in the time after his post-January 6 removals from mainstream platforms: “As the New Year fast approaches, I would like to wish an early New Year’s salutation to Crooked Joe Biden and his group of Radical Left Misfits & Thugs on their never ending attempt to DESTROY OUR NATION through Lawfare, Invasion, and Rigging Elections. They are now scrambling to sign up as many of those millions of people they are illegally allowing into sour Country, in order that they will be ready to VOTE IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2024.”

The factual record supports neither Trump’s characterization of the situation at the southern border as an “invasion” nor the idea that Democrats are signing up these presumably improperly documented individuals for, as the apparent idea goes, illegal voting. Trump has made similar claims in the past, claiming imaginary fraud even in the 2016 presidential election in which he was victorious. He also claimed widespread fraud in the 2012 presidential race in which he wasn’t even campaigning. Prosecutors handling the case against Trump over his attempts after the 2020 election to stay in power despite losing have indicated intentions to reference his past years of falsehoods at the eventual trial.

The evident concept there is that the record of Trump’s rhetoric indicates his general approach of bucking the facts, and, once in power, seeking to subvert legal processes including with what effectively became the help of violence.
