Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, is continuing his public campaign against the impeachment inquiry underway from Republicans in the chamber targeting Joe Biden.

A major focus of investigative efforts by House Republicans on the Oversight Committee, the Judiciary Committee, and elsewhere has been the president’s son Hunter Biden, with the idea that the older Biden is potentially connected to alleged corruption in business. There’s been no serious evidence of direct involvement by the president at all. As Raskin laid it out, that trend continued with a new interview with the Oversight panel featuring testimony by Rob Walker, a past associate of Hunter Biden.

“Mr. Walker reaffirmed today what we already know by now: Joe Biden was not involved in, did not profit from, and took no official actions in relation to his family’s business dealings,” Raskin said in prepared remarks. “Mr. Walker stated to the Committee, just as he previously confirmed to FBI and IRS investigators under the Trump Administration, that any suggestion that Joe Biden was involved with Hunter’s business dealings was ‘wishful thinking,’ akin to ‘unicorns and rainbows.’” The Democrat also said that an examination of extensive financial records tied to Walker also failed to establish corruption ensnaring the current president.

And the Democrat again pushed for Republicans to abandon the whole endeavor, which Democrats characterize as just advancing political interests of Donald Trump, the GOP’s presidential front-runner. “It’s time my Republican colleagues accept that all the facts and evidence has proven that President Biden has committed no impeachable offense or wrongdoing. For the sake of our constituents, please let’s get back to work,” Raskin said.

Others notably interviewed amid Republicans’ investigation include individuals involved — either as a purchaser or dealer/gallery owner — with even the younger Biden’s art career. And again, nothing clearly established a link to the president, Democrats insist.
