Former President Donald Trump isn’t taking well to the imminent criminal trial that he will be facing, per current scheduling, next week.
It’s set for a New York City courtroom on allegations of falsifying business records in connection to hush money from before the 2016 elections for a woman named Stormy Daniels, money that already helped spur a criminal case against ex-Trump “fixer” Michael Cohen.
On Trump’s personal account on Truth Social, he was posting early Wednesday morning on the developments.
“On Monday I will be forced to sit, GAGGED, before a HIGHLY CONFLICTED & CORRUPT JUDGE, whose hatred for me has no bounds,” Trump claimed to his followers. “All of these New York and D.C. “Judges” and Prosecutors have the same MINDSET. Nobody but this Soros Prosecutor, Alvin Bragg, wanted to take this ridiculous case. All legal scholars say it is a sham. BIDEN’S DOJ IS RUNNING THE CASE. Just think of it, these animals want to put the former President of the United States (who got more votes than any sitting President!), & the PARTY’S REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE, IN JAIL, for doing absolutely nothing wrong. It is a RUSH TO THE FINISH. SO UNFAIR!”
The federal Department of Justice is not “running the case” against Trump in New York, which is handled by local prosecutors in Manhattan led by elected District Attorney Alvin Bragg. There is no established lever of what would be everyday control by the federal government over the actions of these local authorities, and Trump has never produced any evidence for this claim actually proving what he’s talking about in all the time that he’s been claiming something similar.
Trump’s team lost a couple of attempts this week at getting the trial delayed, ploys that they tied to an attempt at securing a change in where it takes place and a challenge to the gag order that Trump referenced.
