After a new article from The Wall Street Journal questioning incumbent President Joe Biden’s aptitude for the job, former White House official Olivia Troye — who worked with then-Vice President Mike Pence during the Trump era — threw cold water on the idea that Trump has the “mental acuity” for the role.

“Hope the Wall Street Journal feels free to reach out to any one of us who worked in the Trump Admin,” she wrote Wednesday on social media. “Happy to discuss Trump’s mental acuity & fitness for office. We can start with the closed doors discussions on milkshakes during intel briefings, windmills causing cancer, what bleach does & doesn’t do & go from there…”.

Trump tends to get a pass from Republicans for features of his recent time in the public eye like his incessant promotion of conspiracy theories related to the 2020 presidential race and so-called gaffes like referring to Barack Obama rather than Biden when trying to reference the current president. Trump also mixed up former Republican official Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi, the California Democrat.

Trump has explained away some of the mix-ups as just intentional and meant to make some kind of overarching point. Still, the questions continue from there, including after the steady stream of reports during Trump’s recently concluded criminal trial in New York City that the former president seemed like he was sleeping in court amid the proceedings.

Trump also denied reports of him sleeping in court, claiming he was just resting his eyes. His attendance at the trial was mandatory because of the case’s specifically criminal nature. The proceedings wrapped up with the jury finding him guilty on all counts (dozens of felonies), spurring a sentencing that’s evidently set for next month. It’s unclear at this point whether Trump will get jail-time, though it was already established as a possibility in the context of his (still active) gag order in this case.
