New Billboard Seen In Highly Targeted Swing State: ‘Your Nominee Is A Convicted Felon’

Former President Donald Trump was heading to Temple University in Philadelphia on Saturday for a campaign event… and the anti-Trump signage was ready.

“Your nominee is a convicted felon,” reads a billboard put up in the city ahead of the event that seemingly displays a digitally altered image depicting Trump in an orange jumpsuit. Trump was just recently convicted on all counts at a New York City criminal trial where prosecutors accused him of the felony falsification of business records connected to hush money from before the 2016 presidential election for a woman named Stormy Daniels. The billboard was apparently the work of the Mad Dog PAC, an anti-Trump political organization.

Philadelphia is a heavily Democratic city that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won by a massive margin in the 2020 presidential election, ultimately carrying the state of Pennsylvania as a whole as well, flipping it from Trump’s column in the 2016 race. The way that presidential elections work — tabulated, essentially, on a state by state level — means, though, that slight depressions in Democratic turnout in reliably Democratic areas can have impacts in the overall race even if the locality still technically has a Democratic majority in its results.

Biden’s lead in Democratic-leaning areas of southeastern Florida shrinking significantly below Hillary Clinton’s from 2016 helped give Trump a boost to his state-level win in 2020, improving on his 2016 Florida victory.

Trump is fast approaching his sentencing in the New York City criminal case, which is set for next month. Before that point arrives, Trump and Biden will face each other for their first debate of this election cycle, which will take place in Georgia. It looks like the two of them will be the only presidential candidates on the stage, though figures outside the two major parties are also running.
