Donald Trump has done a magnificent job dividing the country and discrediting his own Department of Justice. For over a year, he has blasted the attorney general, whom he put in office, Jeff Sessions. Plus he still want to lock his political opponent, Hillary Clinton up. There is something seriously wrong here.
In his early morning tweet-a-thon, Trump managed to hit Sessions, Comey, and Clinton in one swipe. Then he pointed to his cable news choice, Fox News:
‘“GOP Lawmakers asking Sessions to Investigate Comey and Hillary Clinton.”
@FoxNews Good luck with that request!’
Comey told CNN‘s Jake Tapper that he really did not remember the number of his memos that he marked “classified:’
‘I don’t know exactly how many there are. Some may be memos, some may be e-mails. … And I think some of them — I know when I created some of them, they were classified, but I don’t know how many of that group.’
Comey is public figure and someone who should be trustworthy. Yet, the president has been arguing that the former director of the FBI and his ilk are liars. That is interesting, given the number of provable lies 45 hands out every single day.
Trump has been systematically trying to discredit every witness to Comey’s memos. His point has been to undermine Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s interactions with the Russians.
Mueller seems to be almost done with the obstruction investigation. Experts believe that the result will be some sort of a report. If Comey is not credible, then perhaps, that report will not carry sufficient weight. The Republican National Committee (RNC) created a website solely to undermine the former FBI’s integrity.
The president’s actions are not those of an innocent man.
