Ex -Trump Advisor Gives Rare Praise To Biden For Putin Leadership

When Donald Trump moved into the White House, he brought a misshapen donut of advisers committed to nihilism with a burn-the-place-down mentality. Fortunately, there were a couple of people committed to being ethical.

The ex-president’s one-time National Security Adviser (NSA) H.R. McMaster offered President Biden some well-deserved praise and insight into the Russian dictator’s intentions. McMaster, spoke to CNN via phone. He noted that Putin did not expect the Ukrainians to fight back with such determination and skill. Neither did he expect his own troops to get frostbite, find eat-by-2002 field meals, or lack the training so obvious in the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s military, according to CNN:

‘Putin perceived weakness and disunity. But what he got instead was an extremely high degree of unity.’

After retiring from the Trump administration, McMaster became a senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. He commented:

‘The Biden administration needs credit for the degree with which they fostered international unity against Russia, especially in economic and diplomatic realm.’

In addition, McMaster called for the GOP and Democrats to work together to prevent what Putin ultimately wants, WWIII, CBS News reported. The former NSA urged action in Ukraine:

‘There should be no partisan divide on Ukraine. Nobody should use Ukraine to score partisan points.’

Now, McMaster is encouraging America to:

  1. Go heavy on the military support for Ukraine, by sending Zelenskyy “more drones, missiles, and other military capabilities.”
  2. Anticipate a cornered Putin will pull out the “most heinous weapons on earth,” including nuclear weapons.

McMaster added that included chemical weapons:

‘We have to be concerned about him using some of the most heinous weapons on earth. But we need to make clear to him that he will suffer tremendous consequences if he does.’

CNN’s Christiane Amanpour interviewed the Kremlin’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov. She asked him directly whether Putin would go that route, and he replied:

‘[I]f it is an existential threat for our country, then it can be.’

McMaster said that the Russian president looked bad at his sports stadium-filled rally. Certainly, Putin could be considering how to retreat from Ukraine and save face:

‘He is trying to appear strong with that rally. But he appears extremely weak and fragile.’

Back then, there was a great divide between the very wealthy and the rest of the people. Check. The Tsar was not the protective father any longer. Check. Instead, the Russian people saw that he was only committed to himself. Check.

The Tsar hoped to use WWI to overcome those divides:

‘However, he failed to choose skilled leaders, was disorganised [English spelling] in ensuring adequate supplies, and made poor strategic decisions throughout the war, leading to huge losses.’
