Donald Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court has been filled with surprises, some pleasant, others — not so much. The Republicans’ on the Senate Judiciary Committee have attempted to fast forward the process before the midterm elections in November. Yet, Democrats pointed to missing documents, and now a woman has come forward at great emotional expense to accuse Kavanaugh of attempted rape. White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway certainly surprised the country with her response.
Conway appeared on Fox News’ Fox & Friends and said the Republicans on the Committee will hear Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony. The accuser, a California psychologist, wanted to keep her name redacted, but soon the news spilled out, and she finally agreed to testify. Conway said:
‘This woman should not be insulted and she should not be ignored. I think the Senate is headed to a reasonable approach. This woman will be heard. Remember too, that has to be weighed against what we already know, which is that Judge Kavanaugh is a man of character and integrity who has been through six FBI vettings.’
The attack occurred when Ford was 15-years-old and was 17-years-old, according to the psychologist. Both the future judge and his friend had been drinking heavily, and they pulled Ford into a bedroom. Kavanaugh pinned her with his body and groped her. Then, he tried to remove her one-piece swimsuit.
When the Kavanaugh’s friend piled on, that broke Ford free. She ran to a bathroom and locked herself in until she heard them go downstairs. Then, she left the house.
