SCOTUS Justice Roberts Makes Rare Statement About Trump’s Attacks On Court

While Donald Trump may think he is a dictator, an autocrat, or Putinesque — he is not. The Republican party has begun to stir itself after a long, two-year nap to the sound of Trump okaying the torture, murder, and dismemberment of a Washington Post journalist, who lived in America and carried a green card. Now, the president has hit a nerve with Supreme Court Justice John Roberts, too. That’s scary.

POTUS has been going around calling a judge who did not rule in his favor an “Obama judge.” The judge disagreed with Trump’s newly invented migrant asylum policy.

This is the only time the head of the federal judiciary has ever whispered a critical word about the man currently sitting in the Oval Office. Chief Justice Roberts is the solemn voice of the highest court in the land. Of course, Trump has been hitting judges hard ever since he began campaigning.

A reporter asked about a ruling by San Francisco’s U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar. This judge refused to let Trump make law, when POTUS overstepped with his off-the rails asylum policy. Tigar halted him, then Trump said:

‘Every case that gets filed in the 9th Circuit, we get beaten. And then we end up having to go to the Supreme Court, like the travel ban, and we won. This was an Obama judge.’

Justice Roberts released a Supreme Court statement. In it, he said:

‘…(The U.S. does not have) Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges.’

Appropriately, Roberts rebuked Trump in this time of thanksgiving:

‘…independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.’

When Trump railed against a judge who ruled against his travel ban, he called the judge a “so-called judge.” Previously, POTUS campaigned on overhauling the Affordable Care Act (ACA/Obamacare). At that time, he directly criticized Justice Roberts.

The president was also involved in a case about the fake Trump University. He claimed that the judge could not rule fairly, because of his Mexican ancestors.

Several justices have commented on judicial independence, saying that it was important to view the court as a non-political institution. Thinking of it as five conservative Republicans and four liberal Democrats, was inaccurate, according to NBC affiliate KTUU.

What Trump did not know or care to know was that U.S. Judge James Robart, who initially halted the newly invented travel ban, was appointed by President George W. Bush. The chief justice was also nominated by President Bush.
