No matter how many massive mistakes Trump makes, he will always find a way to congratulate himself on the decisions to that led to those mistakes. He will also always find some sycophants to agree that he’s the best president ever whose mistakes should be counted as victories.
Trump’s claim that Russia is upset with his decision to pull troops out of Syria is a lie, which is no surprise from the president who caters to Russian President Vladimir Putin and pretends to be tougher on them than any other president in history. Putin was asked during a Thursday press conference for his opinion on Trump’s withdrawal of troops.
USA Today reports that he said:
‘I don’t think they’re needed. Let’s not forget that the presence of (U.S.) troops there is illegitimate. The U.S. is there without backing from the United Nations or an invitation from the Syrian government. Russia is there at the invitation of the Syrian government. But if the U.S. has decided to withdraw, that’s good.’
Trump’s supportive senators, Rand Paul and Mike Lee, seem to agree with Trump’s every move regarding Russia, but many other Republican congressmen, as well as nearly every Democrat, disagree with this decision. Sen. Lindsay Graham, a recent Trump backer on everything, said:
‘With all due respect, ISIS is not defeated in Syria, Iraq, and just after returning from visiting there— certainly not Afghanistan.
‘A decision to withdraw will also be viewed as a boost to ISIS desire to come back.
Trump’s own words are contradictory. On Wednesday, he tweeted that “we have defeated ISIS, my only reason for being [in Syria] during the Trump presidency.” Now, less than 24 hours later, he insists that Russia, Iran, and Syria are unhappy with his decision because “now they will have to fight ISIS, who they hate, without us.”
Both of those statements cannot be true at the same time. If ISIS has been defeated, other countries cannot be angry that they know how to fight ISIS.
