Donald Trump clearly states how much he dislikes Barack Obama. He said that “General” McChrystal was fired “like a dog.” The four-star general  most certainly is a general, so Trump placing quotes around “General” does not make sense. McChrystal has been described as one of the greatest fighters since World  War II. Then, there was the president’s odd reference to a dog.

Trump is the first president in a long time to not have a dog in the White House. Then, there was the point that the president has called quite a few people a dog, which must be quite a slam — at least in his own mind, according to The New York Post:

‘(He called) former aide Omarosa Manigault, GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, ex-top strategist Steve Bannon, conservative talker Glen Beck, NBC reporters David Gregory and Chuck Todd, comedian Bill Maher and pundit Ariana Huffington, among others “dogs.”‘

The president tweeted:

‘“General” McChrystal got fired like a dog by Obama. Last assignment a total bust. Known for big, dumb mouth. Hillary lover!’

Trump retweeted this Laura Ingraham tweet about McChrystal, too:

‘Media Didn’t Like McChrystal Until He Started Bashing Trump.’

McChrystal appeared on  ABC’s This Week with Martha Raddatz.

‘I think it’s important for me to work for people who I think are basically honest, who tell the truth as best they know it … I don’t think (President Trump) tells the truth.

When the show’s host asked whether McChrystal would work for Trump, should he be asked, the four-star general said:

‘I’d say no.’

Raddatz asked Trump:

‘Is Trump immoral, in your view?’

McChrystal responded, then continued to comment. He said:

‘I think he is. If we want to be governed by someone we wouldn’t do a business deal with because their background is so shady, if we’re willing to do that, then that’s in conflict with who I think we are. If we have someone who is as selfless, as committed as Jim Mattis, (who) resigns his position … we ought to ask what kind of commander-in-chief he had that Jim Mattis, the good Marine, felt he had to walk away.’

The four-star general said:

”If you pull American influence out (of Syria), you’re likely to have greater instability, and of course it will be much more difficult for the United States to try to push events in any direction. I don’t believe ISIS is defeated. I think ISIS is as much an idea as it is a number of ISIS fighters … as long as the fertile ground exists, the causes that cause people to flock to a movement as extreme as ISIS exist, you’re going to have it flare back up again. Just when we were starting to sit down with the Taliban, just when we were starting to begin negotiations, he (Trump) basically traded away the biggest leverage point we have.’
