In an effort to not offend anyone, most politicians, even on the left, have danced around the president’s blatantly racist and xenophobic statements and policies. One new House representative, however, is not so shy.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said she believes there is "no question" that President Trump is racist in an interview with Anderson Cooper for CBS' "60 Minutes." https://t.co/wW6N7VABh4

Sitting for an interview with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes, Ocasio-Cortez was asked whether she thinks Trump is racist. The new, young, and very popular House Democrat said that there was absolutely no question about that.
‘The president certainly didn’t invent racism. But he’s certainly given a voice to it and expanded it and created a platform for those things.’
Anderson Cooper: Do you believe President Trump is a racist?
Ocasio-Cortez: Yeah. Yeah. No question.
I am happy to see an elected official finally telling the truth.

Trump and his GOP cronies will be clutching their pearls after hearing her words. She did not back down from the challenge. When Cooper pressed her, asking for examples, she had a list of them ready to rattle off.
‘When you look at the words that he uses, which are historic dog whistles of white supremacy. When you look at how he reacted to the Charlottesville incident, where neo-Nazis murdered a woman, versus how he manufactures crises like immigrants seeking legal refuge on our borders, it’s, it’s night and day.’
Trump lied about Obama's birth certificate, lied about knowing who David Duke was, pardoned racist Sherriff Joe Arpaio, called Mexicans rapist, called Nazis very fine ppl, Central Park 5, Judge Curiel. How can u deny that Trump is racist? It makes u look racist too pic.twitter.com/efGlH1YB54

Of course, the White House was quick to fire back in anger. Ignoring all of the examples that she offered, they tried to shoot back with examples of things Trump has done to save face, which in no way excuse all of the terrible statements and policies he’s presented.
‘Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez’s sheer ignorance on the matter can’t cover the fact that President Trump supported and passed historic criminal justice reform… and… has repeatedly condemned racism and bigotry in all forms.’
Thanks to the new Democratic representatives in the House, Trump is being called out for many of his horrifying statements, and the majority of the American voting public finally feels represented by their elected leaders.
