Historically White University Suspends Fraternity For Racist Video

The image of an endless line of white supremacists/white nationalists carrying torches, with Nazi-related items, and marching through the streets of Charlottesville, Virginia burns the brain. Even after one of them ran down a woman peacefully carrying an anti-rally sign and killed her, Donald Trump gave them cover and support. His own rallies leave no doubt about POTUS’ racist leanings, and they are contagious — especially among young people.

The fearful march carried into the night the sound of young men shouting “Jews will not replace us!” Now, Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) members have released a racist video on Twitter. It showed young fraternity men making racist slurs and showing how “beating black people” was hilarious to them. The University of Georgia (UGA) suspended TKE and opened an investigation, according to a statement by UGA spokesperson Greg Trevor to The Hill.

UGA’s Student Government Association reported that the video showed:

‘(Unidentified men) engaging in behaviors that mock the suffering of enslaved peoples.’

In February, the University of George place the same fraternity under an interim suspension. The reasons were not listed.  @Freeyoumindkid called TKE on this latest video, saying “Do you think that is ok:”

‘Hey @universityofga , Here are a couple of TKE fraternity members laughing about beating black people and throwing around racial slurs. Do you think that this is ok? How about @TKE_Fraternity ? Is this what your fraternity stands for?’

‘We can not let them push this under the rug!’

The video showed one student joking around using a belt to hit another person. There was laughter, then this:

‘I’m not black.’

One other person played along in the same vein:

‘Whoa, you’re not saying the right word.’

The national Tau Kappa Epsilon organization issued a statement saying it was “disgusted, appalled and angered:”

‘TKE does not condone or support any actions by its members that would be defined as racist, discriminatory, and or offensive.’

Does this come as a surprise after Donald Trump’s history and how he responded to the white nationalists’ 2017 march:

‘I think there is blame on both sides. You had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.’
