House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the polar opposite of Donald Trump. She understands the value of history and political rules and traditions, and he could care less. The speaker is a skilled politician, and the president blunders about dictating orders. As importantly, Speaker Pelosi relates to people, whereas, Trump bullies or ignores them.
Pelosi celebrated Trans Day Of Visibility with trans members of the military and posted a tweet of the event. Her message was particularly meaningful. In it, the speaker said: we see you, we love you, we value you:
‘Whether you are a soldier, activist, teacher, or artist, our message to you is the same: We see you. We love you. We value you. Thank you for all the joy you bring to the lives of our families, our communities, and our nation.
Trump’s behavior in office, thus far, has shown a far different message. He cruelly tears infants and toddlers out of the arms of legal refugees and cages children. The man who currently sits in the Oval Office has had no qualms about shutting down the southern border with Mexico, no matter the economic cost.
The only love that the commander-in-chief has mentioned was that he and North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong Un have been exchanging love letters. Then, Trump said he was in love with the dictator.
The president only appears to value his rich friends at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida and the world dictators. If his fans ever realized how little he valued them and their healthcare, they would revolt. Trump certainly has never valued our allies and our good neighbors Mexico and Canada.
Fortunately, the country has a speaker who is second in line after Trump.
