On Saturday, in front of the 2019 West Point graduating class, Mike Pence told the crowd of almost 1,000 graduates that it was a “virtual certainty” they would be going to war — “Some of you may even be called upon to serve in this hemisphere,” Pence added.
According to CBS News:
‘West Point, N.Y. — Vice President Mike Pence told the most diverse graduating class in the history of the U.S. Military Academy on Saturday that the world is “a dangerous place” and they should expect to see combat. “Some of you will join the fight against radical Islamic terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq,” he said.’
Pence continued:
‘It is a virtual certainty that you will fight on a battlefield for America at some point in your life. You will lead soldiers in combat. It will happen. Some of you may even be called upon to serve in this hemisphere.’
The Vice President also took the time to impress upon the class of new ranking 2nd Lieutenants that they had the “president” to thank that when they do go off to war, they will be better equipped to handle any dangers that come their way. He also tweeted those remarks:
When you came here, the world was a dangerous place, and it still is. But I’m pleased to report that, thanks to the leadership of @POTUS, you’re joining an Army that’s better equipped, better trained, and better supplied than any Army in the history of the world! pic.twitter.com/EGYMtKvrbS

That statement would probably be a lot more comforting to the class if it were made about a “POTUS” who had actually been brave enough to serve in the military, but I digress…
The class was the most diverse in West Point history, and Pence did acknowledge that in his speech, and also tweeted:
The class of 2019 is the most diverse in the history of @WestPoint_USMA. Today you’re graduating the 1000th Jewish cadet, the 5000th female cadet, the highest number of Hispanic women grads & the highest number of African American women in the history of the US Military Academy! pic.twitter.com/Tqzge8oCXb

Pence’s ominous promise to the class comes at a volatile time, as the White House is dispatching more troops to the Middle East after tensions with Iran have escalated. And, there’s no doubt that many of these students will be sent off to protect the Southern Border in our so-called “president’s” continued war on migrants.
