During Donald Trump’s first visit to the UK as U.S. president, he complained that protesters flying a giant balloon depicting him as a fit-throwing baby in diapers made him feel “unwelcome.” Somehow he didn’t seem to understand that this was exactly the point.

Trump’s right-wing rhetoric, reflected in the rise of leaders in countries across the world at the moment, is vehemently opposed in the UK as well as in the United States by wide swaths of people. Reflecting that opposition, protests and the Trump Baby Balloon will greet Trump during that official visit.
Bloomberg reports:
‘The plan is for demonstrators to take over Trafalgar Square in central London, with the main Facebook page logging 7,600 attendees and 33,000 interested people as of Friday morning. Organizers are also trying to raise 30,000 pounds ($38,000) to fly a giant balloon depicting Trump as a small-handed, diaper-clad infant — as they did during his visit last year.’

Trump faces opposition wherever he goes, and there’s a very good reason for that. His vile, racist rhetoric and inflaming of white supremacy in the United States is unappreciated by the majority of Americans and in the rest of the world. Protesters plan to make sure that Trump and everyone else knows that they don’t stand with these ideas.
The Stop Trump Coalition said that:
‘This is about sending a strong message that people in the U.K. don’t accept the divisive right-wing policies that Trump stands for, and that inviting him for a state visit is totally inappropriate.’

Trump’s visit to the UK will not be similar to visits by other American presidents. One member of the royal family, Meghan Markle, will be skipping the visit and Trump will not be invited to speak to Parliament.
‘He’ll miss some of the trappings of a typical state visit, though. A gilded carriage ride to Buckingham Palace isn’t happening due to security concerns; extensive renovations mean he won’t stay there. He also won’t have the chance to address Parliament because of opposition from politicians including Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow.’
