Ted Lieu Calls Trump “Racist Ass” LIVE On Sunday TV

Donald Trump has been doing all that he can to divide the Democrats for the upcoming 2020 elections. He has shown himself to be an experienced divider when it comes to Democrats and Republicans. As usual though, he tripped over his own tongue.

Representative Ted Lieu (D-CA) appeared on MSNBC Sunday morning and let the president have it. Normally, the representative has been pretty circumspect in his language, so he must have been very passionate about this. What Trump did not realize was that his words had the effect of drawing the Democrats together as they stood against him.

Sunday morning, the MSNBC host of Weekends with Alex Witt asked Lieu what he thought about Trump’s tweeting that all non-white Democrats  “go back” to their home country. The representative responded:

‘“As an immigrant myself, I know that when we came to America, we were poor. My parents went to flee markets to sell gifts to make ends meet, and eventually they opened a successful small business and achieved the American dream. It’s one of the reasons I joined the Air Force and active duty.’

He continued, saying that Trump was a “racist ass:”

‘I never thought I’d see the day when a president was telling immigrants to go back to where they came from. He’s demonstrating he’s a racist ass. He’s not uniting us.’

Lieu continued on MSNBC, saying that Trump was:

‘…becoming increasingly more and more unhinged as he sees things are going against him. He has not been able to build his wall or make the border situation any better and now he’s trying to do other things to amp up his base. He doesn’t understand most Americans are immigrants or have family members who are immigrants.’

Earlier, Matt Wolking Deputy Director of Communications – Rapid Response for @realdonaldtrump’s 2020 campaign had tweeted that “anyone who says” Trump said “go back to where they came from is lying:”

‘Anyone who says the president told members of Congress to go back to where they came from is lying. He told them to “Then come back and show us how it is done.”’

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) responded to Wolking’s tweet prior to his TV appearance with Witt:

Hey @MattWolking: @POTUS first told us to “go back.” Like you, America is our home, there is no place to “go back.”

@realDonaldTrump made a bigoted, unAmerican statement. There is no other way to spin it because unlike you, most Americans can read an entire statement.’

Lieu was right, though. Trump shot out several extremely racist morning tweets:

‘So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly……’

‘….and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how….’

‘….it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!’
