Tens of thousands of Chinese protestors have been protesting in Hong Kong in a month’s long effort. They are objecting to China’s ever-increasingly demanding Communistic control over the formerly British-ruled democratic Hong Kong. Today it became violent.
As the police descended upon the protesters, one of them drew a gun and shot one of the primarily young people. Instead of supporting the protesters, who begged for US support, Donald Trump sent out an incredibly ill-timed congratulations to Xi for 70 years of Communist Party rule:
‘Congratulations to President Xi and the Chinese people on the 70th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China:”
The AP reported that the US president was congratulating an “authoritarian dictator who tortures and murders” his own people in the “grotesque political system:”
‘The President of the United States is literally praising an authoritarian dictator who tortures and murders his own citizens and squelches freedom, and the grotesque political system that allows it.’
Typically Trump has spoken well of the Chinese leader Xi Jinping even as he inflicted ever-increasing tariffs upon our trade partner. The White House has been critical of China’s repression — the Ulghur Muslims among others.
