As the evidence keeps piling up against President Donald Trump, he keeps lashing out. This Sunday, following an appearance by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) on Fox News Sunday, Trump took to Twitter to complain about the impeachment investigation co-lead by reaching back to a scandal that Trump’s own party developed some time ago. Although the recent inspector general report about the Russia investigation singled out an isolated instance of surveillance for criticism and found no effect of political bias on the overall course of the probe — Trump claimed the exact opposite and insisted that Republican conspiracy theory shills had been vindicated.
He tweeted:

Trump is referring to the back-and-forth between Schiff and Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) when the two of them released competing memos outlining concerns related to surveillance of Trump operative Carter Page, who was suspected of corrupt links to Russia.
To call Trump complaining about an alleged lie ironic would be just about the understatement of the year. Trump has publicly lied well over 10,000 times while in office, and here, he’s making up a lie that someone else supposedly told and complaining about it. The reality remains — the Justice Department’s Inspector General Michael Horowitz found no effect from bias on the Russia probe.
