The horrific machete attack in the New York area injured five people celebrating Hanukkah. Former New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind said Sunday that the attack was a symptom of a much larger concern, rampant anti-Semitism.
Trump tweeted his pleasure at being fawned over by the Jewish leader Dov Hikind. He thanked Hikind in a “now-about-me” moment:
‘Thank you to highly respected Jewish leader Dov Hikind for his wonderful statements about me this morning on @foxandfriends.’
A man entered the home of a Jewish rabbi and stabbed several people. Only one person remained in the hospital in critical condition on Monday. The 100 guests were terrified, and Hikind said on the Fox program “America’s News HQ:”
‘Anti-Semitism is out of control. What we see now is systematic day-in, day-out horrible things happening.’
Hikind claimed an atmosphere “of legitimizing anti-Semitic rhetoric” in America.
‘When we permit the Farrakhans of the world to get away with their hate, when we have a responsible say about [Louis] Farrakhan who is the vilest anti-Semite; I mean, he can compete with [Joseph] Goebbels and [Adolf] Hitler, when people say, well, I disagree with the things he says, but he’s done a lot of good stuff’, “that’s a disaster.’
Hikind also asserted that there was a group of Democrats involved in the anti-Semitism: Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Representatives Rashida Tlaib, (D-MI), Ilhan Omar, (D-MN), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY).
The suspect pled “not guilty” to multiple charges Sunday.
Then, Twitter world went crazy. Trump thanked the Jewish leader “for his wonderful statements about me,” and all hell broke loose:
