At the conservative Christian prayer breakfast, Donald Trump offered a cold promise to the man who has marked the president with a bipartisan vote for impeachment. His rage was barely contained in the darkened room. First Lady Melania warned people that if her husband believed someone had hit him, he would come back ten times harder.
The sitting president offered retribution to the heroic senator from Utah, Mitt Romney (R-UT). When the former governor of Massachusetts and son of a Republican governor announced his vote of “guilty” in the president’s impeachment trial, Romney was well aware of what he and probably his entire family would face from the vindictive president.
Trump tweeted about his “failed presidential candidate” enemy:
‘Had failed presidential candidate @MittRomney devoted the same energy and anger to defeating a faltering Barack Obama as he sanctimoniously does to me, he could have won the election. Read the Transcripts!’
The impeachment trial of Donald J. Trump showed the nation heroes and the true nature of the 45th president. Mitt Romney was one of those heroes, as were the three Democratic senators in swing states. The House Intelligence Committee chair and impeachment lead Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) was another hero as well as Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
History will mark them as heroes. It will mark Trump with a bipartisan impeachment vote of “guilty.”
