President Donald Trump does not take well to challenges, even from within his own party. This Friday morning, he flipped out on Twitter over the idea that Kentucky Republican Congressman Thomas Massie could hold up the vote on a Coronavirus relief funding package out of concern over how it may add to the national debt. Trump held nothing back — he even suggested that Massie should be thrown out of the Republican Party entirely, all over the idea that he was even considering breaking with the planned unanimous consent passage of the relief bill and thereby forcing a roll-call vote.
Trump whacks Massie, aligning himself with much of Congress, as lawmakers scramble to return today. Massie is threatening to force the members to vote in person, rather than by voice, so members across the country are now trickling into the House https://t.co/wWNOALZb1R

Seriously, Trump flipped. He tweeted:
‘Looks like a third rate Grandstander named @RepThomasMassie , a Congressman from, unfortunately, a truly GREAT State, Kentucky, wants to vote against the new Save Our Workers Bill in Congress. He just wants the publicity. He can’t stop it, only delay, which is both dangerous .& costly. Workers & small businesses need money now in order to survive. Virus wasn’t their fault. It is “HELL” dealing with the Dems, had to give up some stupid things in order to get the “big picture” done. 90% GREAT! WIN BACK HOUSE, but throw Massie out of Republican Party!’

In another tweet, Trump added that Massie was supposedly “a disaster for America, and for the Great State of Kentucky!”
By empowering the Radical Left Democrats, do nothing Kentucky politician @RepThomasMassie is making their War on the 2nd Amendment more and more difficult to win (But don’t worry, we will win anyway!). He is a disaster for America, and for the Great State of Kentucky!

Lawmakers already began heading back to the House chamber in anticipation of needing to vote in-person, which would be required of all members who wanted to participate in the absence of a unanimous consent passage. Massie has complained that the Coronavirus relief “money isn’t going to individuals (for the most part), but they are going to pay for it eventually” — but right now, individuals need all the help that they can get, and in the name of his ideological purity, Massie appeared to be plotting to hold up even what’s included in the currently on deck economic stimulus package.
This may be the first time ever you’ll see Democrats and Republicans smashing the “like” button on a Trump tweet. Massie has claimed the dubious distinction of the least popular person in Washington today.
