President Donald Trump’s idea of policy-making appears to hinge upon tweeting random nonsense. Early Tuesday, the day after cops attacked peaceful and legal protesters for the sole purpose of clearing a space for Trump to hold a photo op at a local church, Trump took to Twitter with another round of nonsense messages designed to rile up his supporters. After having earlier in the morning denounced the supposed “lowlife & scum” among the actually largely peaceful demonstrators in NYC, Trump tweeted that the city should “CALL UP THE NATIONAL GUARD,” as if this whole ordeal is some kind of game to him in which he’s trying to see how aggressive he can get the government to be.
This is no time for incendiary tweets. This is no time to encourage violence.
This is a national crisis — and we need real leadership right now.

He uselessly tweeted:

The “lowlifes and losers” to which Trump is referring include peaceful demonstrators protesting on behalf of the Black Lives Matter cause. Recently, when violent, heavily armed demonstrators stormed the Michigan state capitol building in protest of that state’s lockdown measures implemented in attempts to stem the spread of the Coronavirus, Trump referred to the demonstrators as “very good people.” Could the president’s racism be any more obvious? He wants to use violence against the protesters who he doesn’t like.

Early Tuesday, he also tweeted about the primary elections unfolding in many states around the country. He called on Republicans to get out and vote, writing on Twitter:
‘Republicans, get out and vote today for those great candidates that will lead to big victories on November 3rd. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!’
And he added:
‘SILENT MAJORITY!’

Trump, quite literally, does not have the support of a majority of the population. Hillary Clinton got more votes overall in 2016 — Trump won more individual states — and even now, just 42.9 percent of Americans approve of the job that Trump is doing overall, according to FiveThirtyEight.
