When even Fox News starts noting that Trump is a failure, he’s had a very, very bad week. After two Supreme Court decisions went badly for the president and then a tremendous embarrassment of a turnout at his first political rally in months, it’s hard to spin the story in anything positive for the Trump administration as Fox News normally tries to do.
On Monday, Trump sat apparently sulking over negative coverage of his border wall while nursing the wounds of his terrible rally, live-tweeting Fox News. Trump has rarely been pleased by Fox coverage lately, even declaring them worse than his usual whipping boy, CNN. The fact is, though, that Trump’s 2016 promises at his massive MAGA rallies to build a border wall and make Mexico pay for it haven’t been realized, the warnings Trump had that such promises were unrealistic were true, and very few of Trump’s hardcore fans are still interested in coming to rallies. Fox News can’t spin that for him.
It’s too soon to tell from just one rally, but it appears Trump’s draw has shrunk significantly. Without his ability to brag about big rally turnouts and “a political movement” that’s the biggest in history, he has no accomplishments. Appointing Supreme Court judges isn’t much of a boast when those justices don’t even vote your way during historical votes.
