President Donald Trump consistently has grandiose, melodramatic praise for himself. The reality is that he’s not even been in office for a full four years, but on at least 365 days of his presidency, he’s spent some time at a property branded with his own name. This Friday, Trump yet again went golfing on the taxpayer’s dime; this time, he went to his company’s golf course in Virginia. He had to take a temporary break from golfing when businesses closed around the country to help stem the spread of the Coronavirus, but his commitment to golfing instead of dealing with the responsibilities of the presidency knows few, if any bounds, apparently.
CNN’s Jim Sciutto reported:
‘President Donald Trump has arrived at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia at 9:52am according to the pool report. It is the 365th day he’s spent at one of his properties and the 273rd day he has been to one of his golf clubs.’

That’s 273 days of golfing. 273 days! Imagine how much better off the United States might be if Trump spent just a fraction of that time doing something other than golfing. Maybe Trump could have used that time to help prepare the U.S. for the Coronavirus pandemic, the seriousness of which he’s ignored at just about every step of the way. Maybe he could have spent some of that time to develop an election security plan for the United States in the wake of Russian interference in 2016 U.S. elections. But he didn’t. He went golfing.
Last weekend, Trump made a big show out of cancelling a trip to his golf course in New Jersey. He claimed that he would be staying behind in D.C. to help protect “law and order” against the onslaught of the supposedly dangerous people who he loves to fearmonger about. Yet, he didn’t even stay in D.C. He went golfing in Virginia.
