On Wednesday, the Senate Homeland Security Committee hosted a hearing about security and fraud-related concerns surrounding the 2020 presidential election. Despite the assurances to the contrary from local election officials around the country, outgoing U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr, and others, Republicans have insisted that there’s enough of an issue to be conclusively concerned about the integrity of the 2020 election. In reality, there’s no legitimate evidence of election outcome-altering fraud. Although ex-Department of Homeland Security official Chris Krebs, who Trump himself fired, clearly laid out the case against the GOP’s election conspiracy theories at that Wednesday hearing, Trump delusionally tried to characterize the proceedings as some kind of vindication.
On Wednesday, Trump tweeted as follows:
‘Senate Hearings going on LIVE @OANN , as to the Fraudulent 2020 Election that just took place. @SenRonJohnson doing an excellent job. Nevada must be flipped based on testimony!.. Chris Krebs was totally excoriated and proven wrong at the Senate Hearing on the Fraudulent 2020 Election. Massive FRAUD took place with machines, people voting from out of state, illegals, dead people, no signatures—and so much more!’
Trump is simply profoundly ignorant. In another post, he cited Ken Starr, who Republicans hosted as a witness at the Wednesday hearing despite his current status as a Fox News contributor who doesn’t really have any legitimate inside knowledge about the security of the election or related topics. Starr simply isn’t credible.

Perhaps the biggest difference between 2016 and 2020 is @FoxNews, despite the fact that I went from 63,000,000 Votes to 75,000,000 Votes, a record 12,000,000 Vote increase. Obama went down 3,000,000 Votes, and won. Rigged Election!!!

In reality, Krebs roundly refuted the GOP conspiracy theories at that Wednesday hearing. At one point, he said as follows:
‘The citizens of the United States of America that are responsible for executing this sacred democratic institution of elections are being threatened on a daily basis. You name it — whether it’s emails, whether it’s phone calls, whether it’s people showing up at your house: I know this is not an America I recognize, and it’s gotta stop. We need everyone across the leadership ranks to stand up. I would appreciate more support from my own party, the Republican Party, to call this stuff out and end it. We gotta move on. We have a president-elect in President-elect Biden. We have to move on.’
