Right now, the United States us ninth in the world in number of citizens contracting COVID-19 and deaths that result from the virus. Americans are more than twice as likely to die from the virus than their Canadian neighbors and forty-six times higher than Japan. In parts of California, there are no ICU beds available for anymore patients. COVID deaths are at record numbers, and the president is spending his time tweeting and complaining about rigged elections, his Space Force, and how deaths from COVID are far less important than the economy.

Donald Trump did not win the 2020 presidential election. Joe Biden did by more than 7 million popular votes and 74 electoral college votes. He still hasn’t admitted that his loss should have been expected while his non-existent pandemic response has left more than 300,000 families grieving, the economy is spiraling downward and a real economic crisis is looming, and he continues to embarrass the country with his attacks on the democratic process. Of course he didn’t win a second term.
Trump’s views on lockdowns are well known and his supporters, including media personalities like Laura Ingraham, are happy to fall in line with this belief. After all, Americans have to work to survive, and Trump’s Republican cronies have held up a relief package that could have allowed more workers to stay home and stay safe rather than furthering the spread of the virus.
No matter how much Trump tries to spin it, he is still a one-term, impeached president who lost the popular vote twice. Combine that with his record of failures in office, and his presidency will surely go down in history books as the darkest period in American history.
