There is something wrong with how the nation is seeing January 6. It is as if they have been given pieces of the overall puzzle, but not enough to get a clear view of the big violent coup attempt. In a blockbuster announcement, Representative Mikie Sherrill (D-NY) dropped some crucial pieces in place that have left both Americans and their legislators badly shaken.
Tuesday Representative Sherrill explained that she saw some of her colleagues give the insurgents a walk-through on the day before the terrible attack on America’s democracy. She described what she saw as a “reconnaissance” before Bloody January 6.
Six people died. Over a dozen Capitol Police have been hospitalized, one may lose an eye.
Sherrill prepared a 13-minute Facebook video address that spoke to far more Americans than just her constituents. In it, she talked about the House’s work to hold Donald Trump accountable for inciting and then directing a violent mob to take the Capitol Building. During that attempted coup, the president sat transfixed before his televisions, pleased that these people were fighting for him.
She crouched on the floor to avoid gunshots. Around her others were phoning their relatives “afraid that would be the last call that they ever made.” Sherrill made her call to her husband, telling him they would walk to a safe room shortly:
‘We were worried that at every corner we would find the mob.’
The New Jersey representative told The Washington Post:
‘We attempted to continue the debate. That became impossible as crowds gathered and started banging on the doors, so we were told to get out the gas masks in case we had to egress.’
The representative also described a chilling event she witnessed the day prior to the attempted daylight coup, Yahoo News reported:
‘I also intend to see that those members of Congress who abetted him — those members of Congress who had groups coming through the capitol that I saw on Jan. 5 for reconnaissance for the next day — those members of Congress who incited the violent crowd, those members of Congress that attempted to help our president undermine our democracy, I’m going see that they’re held accountable.’
During the video, she did not release the names or identities of the legislators who participated in the coup. The Democrats have been trying to discover exactly who was behind the violence, planned it, and/or participated in it. Trump intentionally hyped up his “rally” attendees, building them to a frenzy, and then sent them to the Capitol Building, the symbol of American freedom.
Federal investigators have received an enormous amount of information from the public. Their task is to investigate the damning evidence of the “seditious conspiracy.” Unlike most news stories, the more shocking the information comes out, the worse the news becomes. The media continues to delve into the attempted coup.
There is a group of Democrats who urge accountability for the Republicans who gave incendiary remarks before the coup attempt.
Americans want to see the incident move to its natural conclusion, removing Trump from office.
