Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is continuing on with her fervent campaign to… tweet like Trump, or something. On Friday evening, in the wake of her removal from her committee seats in Congress, Greene touted articles of impeachment that she filed against President Joe Biden — an effort that has zero chance of actually getting anywhere. Articles of impeachment would require the support of at least a majority of the House to pass — and as of early Saturday, Greene had zero co-sponsors for her impeachment resolution.
Nevertheless, she triumphantly tweeted as follows:
‘I’ve received tens of thousands of calls, emails, social media messages and letters of encouragement from Americans all over the country asking me to push forward with my Joe Biden Articles of Impeachment. Let’s make it happen!’

In a Saturday post, Greene kept up her effort to drum up support for impeaching Biden with a short video clip of him discussing his effort as the vice president in the Obama administration to pressure Ukraine into firing a corrupt top prosecutor. What Greene leaves out is that numerous Western interests were united in their effort to get this prosecutor fired — Biden, as vice president, was not going out on his own here. Furthermore, despite the implication that Biden pressured Ukraine into firing this prosecutor in order to protect his son, Hunter, from potentially damaging investigations, Joe himself was not in any substantial way involved with any overseas business endeavors by his family, and any past investigation of a company with which Hunter worked did not connect to the pressure for the prosecutor’s firing. The prosecutor was too light on corruption in the perspective of Western officials.

In another bizarre post, Greene complained that “Our Democrat controlled tyrannical government will spend $438 million of your tax dollars to build a border wall around the Capitol & bring in the National Guard to protect themselves, but WON’T build you a wall or give you the NG when domestic terrorists Antifa/BLM attack you.”

There are more than a few layers of wrongness here — first of all, didn’t right-wingers like Greene like “border walls”? (Also, the National Guard personnel are in D.C. in large part because of the January 6 insurrection that Trump helped incite.) Additionally — the National Guard did actually go into the streets during isolated instances of rioting last year to which Greene is referring. On top of these issues, the federal government generally doesn’t even directly control state National Guards. State governments generally handle those authorities. And finally, calling Black Lives Matter a “terrorist” organization and pretending like any of its centralized structure at all supports violent rioting is utterly ridiculous and seems willfully ignorant — not to mention racist.
