Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) clowned on Donald Trump Jr. and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) this week for antics related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In a video that Trump Jr. approvingly shared, UFC-affiliated MMA fighter Bryce Mitchell pushed back on the notion of going to battle outside of the country, although those pulling the strings of power are generally not proposing any U.S. personnel getting involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which is what he was asked about. Mitchell added in the video that, in the event of an invasion of the U.S., he intends to stay and fight against whoever it is that’s invading… and besides the ridiculousness of essentially fantasizing about a military invasion of the United States, the notion that any of the prominent Trumps that Americans know and hate would somehow prove their valiance or something is absurd. Donald didn’t even go to the Capitol on January 6 after he told his supporters he’d be there. Kinzinger pointedly commented as follows, directly addressing Jr.:

‘No one in your family has served anything but yourselves for your whole life, why would anyone expect different from you? Service is hard. Staying in Arkansas or New York isn’t. Please be with [Mitchell]. I only want strength in our military.’

As for Kinzinger’s comments about Greene, he spoke in response to vitriol that she shared targeting ret. Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman. Greene posted on Twitter that “people are dying because of Biden’s poor decision making leading up to Putin declaring war on Ukraine” — which is obviously nonsense — and after Vindman shut down that rhetoric, Greene replied that this “clown wants to drag Americans into war with Russia with his big tough tweets and his zoom interviews on CNN. Go ahead and go fight yourself since you’re from Ukraine. You are clueless about Americans being fed up with sending our sons and daughters to die in foreign lands.” Vindman is (obviously) an American, although Greene seemed to speak as though he’s somehow distinct from the group. Responding to her rhetorical attack on Vindman, Kinzinger commented as follows on Monday afternoon:

‘[Marjorie Taylor Greene] is intensely pro-Putin. This tweet even has twinges of Putinism in it. She blames Biden for not being tough, then in anger puts out a tweet that makes Putin smile. (Never say what you’ll never do). MTG enabled Vladimir. MTG would never fight for anything that’s not self.’

Greene recently spoke at this year’s edition of the America First Political Action Conference, where organizer Nick Fuentes asked attendees to applaud “for Russia.” (Attendees obliged with his request.) After facing criticism for participating in the event, Greene stood by her own attendance there, insisting on Twitter that she’s “not going to play the guilt by association game in which you demand every conservative should justify anything ever said by anyone they’ve ever shared a room with.” It’s not just anything, though — it’s support for an authoritarian regime behind a devastating invasion of a neighboring country, among other serious atrocities.
